Often seen especially in the inner Hauraki Gulf and the Firth of Thames (Ref. 1371). Recorded from bottom trawls off the east coast of South Island (Ref. 58461), beach at Ruatoria, near East Cape and from north of Cape Kidnappers (Ref. 89278). Voucher specimen(s) held at the NMNZ.
